Girls Wrestlers Win District Championships

Two senior wrestlers captured District Championships this past weekend at Northwest to move on to the State Tournament in Columbia. Audrey Scherer and Ellie Poulette each worked through Friday night and Saturday in dominant fashion to pin each of their opponents and bring home gold for the Flyers.

This will be Poulette's second trip to Columbia to compete in the state tournament where she finished 5th last year in only her 2nd year as a wrestler. Scherer made history by becoming the only Flyer wrestler in program history to ever win 4 district championships. This will be her 4th trip to state where she placed 2nd as a freshman, 2nd as a sophomore, and 5th as a junior. Audrey is also 4 match wins away from becoming the wrestling program's all-time career wins leader. She is already the leader in all-time girls wrestling wins.

The state tournament runs on February 23rd and 24th in Columbia at Mizzou Arena.
