Boys Basketball Caps Impressive 2025, Sets Sights on 2026

Boys Basketball put together an outstanding start to the season and closed out 2025 with plenty to celebrate, finishing 9–2 against a challenging early slate and establishing themselves as one of the area's best teams.

The Flyers opened the year with confidence, winning their first nine games, including road victories at Marquette (72–63), Fox (73–40), and Parkway Central (51–47). In Southside Classic play at Mehlville and in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Maryville University they showcased the programs depth and discipline, highlighted by decisive wins over Gateway Science Academy (93–17), Clayton (55–50), Oakville (54–38), and John Burroughs (66–47). Close losses to Vianney and Eureka capped a demanding stretch that provided valuable experience heading into the new year.

Offensively, Ben Seliga has led the way with 17.2 points per game, attacking all three levels and shooting nearly 75% from the free-throw line. Fred Amad (11.9 ppg) and Alex Hessler (11.6 ppg) formed a strong scoring trio, combining perimeter shooting with physical finishes inside. Kellan O'Keefe (5.6 ppg) and August Eller (4.2 ppg on 59% shooting) added efficiency and balance, while multiple players contributed timely scoring throughout the lineup.

On the defensive end, Lindbergh's team-first approach stood out. Jake Lanzarini and Ben Seliga each averaged over 3 assists per game, while Seliga also posted 17 steals. Hessler (22 assists, 10 steals, 5 blocks) and O'Keefe (16 blocks) anchored a defense that consistently disrupted opponents and controlled the paint. Eller (4.5 rebounds per game) and Hessler (4.4 rpg) helped fuel transition opportunities with strong rebounding.

With a strong foundation, proven depth, and early-season tests already in hand, Boys Basketball enters 2026 with momentum, confidence, and high expectations for the stretch ahead.
