Mehlville HS -Â The Lindbergh Flyers Girls Basketball opened tournament play in the Southside Classic against the Affton Cougars at Mehlville High School with a dominant performance to come away with an 83-20 victory and advance to the semifinals of the Southside Classic.
Senior guard,
Taryn Mulvaney, lead the team in scoring with 22 points on 8-12 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc. Mulvaney also had 2 steals and 2 assists.
Senior guard,
Kate Ritter, lead the Flyers on the defensive side of the ball with 6 steals in the game. Ritter also had 12 points on 6-11 shooting while picking up 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and a block.
Freshman
Josephine Mullins was another bright spot in the Flyers offense, scoring 12 points on 5-10 shooting with a pair of three-pointers, adding 4 assists and 3 steals.
The Flyers showed their superiority in this game early, outscoring the Cougars 50-15 in the first half. They continued that dominance on the defensive side of the ball throughout the second half, only allowing the Cougars to score 5 second half points as they cruised to a first round victory in this year's rendition of the Southside Classic.

Lindbergh will now advance to the semifinals of the Southside Classic on Wednesday, December 4th, where they will be set to take on the Fox Warriors. The game will take place at Mehlville High School and tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
