Senior Night Soars as Flyers Rally Past Longhorns in Season Finale
The Lindbergh Flyers baseball team celebrated their seniors with a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Parkway West Longhorns, defeating them 10-6 on Monday night at Lindbergh High School.
Parkway West jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on a 2-run homer in the top of the second inning followed by a pair of sacrifice flies in the third and fourth, putting the pressure on the Flyers.
However, the resilient Flyers refused to go down without a fight. In the bottom of the fourth, Jack Stockmann delivered a clutch 2-out, 2-RBI single with the bases loaded, igniting a spark in the Lindbergh dugout. A wild pitch brought in another run, cutting the deficit to 5-3.
The momentum shifted dramatically in the bottom of the fifth. The Flyers unleashed an offensive explosion, plating seven runs. Aidin Steuber started the rally with an RBI double, followed by back-to-back RBI hits by Lane Elder and Jack Politte. Politte then added another RBI single, and Ethan Cantareira capped off the scoring with a scorching RBI double,putting Lindbergh comfortably ahead 10-5.
Parkway West threatened to mount a comeback in the top of the seventh, but Jack Politte shut the door, securing the victory for the Flyers. Adler Crask earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless inning.
At the plate, Ethan Cantareira led the way for the Flyers, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles. His spark at the top of the order was instrumental in setting the tone for the team's offensive surge.
With this exciting win, the Flyers close out their regular season on a high note. They now turn their attention to the MSHSAA Class 6 District 1 Championship tournament, which kicks off on Wednesday, May 15th, at Lindbergh High School. The Flyers will be looking to carry the momentum from their senior night triumph deep into the playoffs.
