Flyers With Strong Finish In Midwest Classic

Lindbergh 8, Parkway West 7

Despite seeing their 4-run lead whittled down by the end, Lindbergh still held off for an 8-7 victory on Saturday. Parkway West closed the gap by scoring on a single, a double, a single, and an error.

Lindbergh didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the sixth when Jack Stockmann singled, scoring one run.

Parkway West got on the board in the top of the second inning after Parkway West scored on a wild pitch, and Adam Wright singled, each scoring one run.

Lindbergh captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third after Lane Elder doubled, Josh Mueller walked, and Carter Heavey hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

Michael Politte homered to left field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Flyers.

Parkway West tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a single by Dan Carmichael, a double by Mason Beno, and a single by Clayton Kayira.

Parkway West took the lead in the top of the sixth. An error scored one run, to give Parkway West the lead, 7-6.

Lindbergh captured the lead, 8-7, in the bottom of the sixth after Elder homered to left field, and Stockmann singled, each scoring one run.

Max Power earned the win for Lindbergh Varsity Flyers. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out none and walking one. Adler Crask pitched three innings in relief for Lindbergh Varsity Flyers. The reliever allowed five hits and five runs (three earned) while, striking out three and walking three. Colin Hughes took the loss for Parkway West. The starting pitcher went three innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out one and walking two. Austin Jones stepped on the bump first for Lindbergh Varsity Flyers. They gave up two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out none and walking three.

 The Flyers collected 11 hits in the game. Politte provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Lindbergh with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day. Elder and Ethan Cantareria each collected three hits for Lindbergh. Cantareria stole two bases. The Flyers ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.

Beno went 1-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with two runs batted in. Zach Taylor went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Parkway West in hits. Parkway West had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Taylor and Beno led the team with two walks each. Wright stole two bases. Parkway West stole five bases in the game. Parkway West turned one double play in the game.

Next up for the Flyers is a district game at Seckman on Monday. First pitch is at 4:15 PM.
