Allie Waldron has been a staple of the Lindbergh Flyers softball program since starting in center field as a freshman. Now her legacy is guaranteed to have a lasting impact for the Flyers softball program.
Last night, in the bottom of the fourth inning on a 1-0 count, the senior catcher drove her 20th home run of her career to straight away center field. That puts her past Josie Hutchison ('20) who hit 19 home runs in her career.
After only hitting a single home run as a freshman, Waldron hit 4 as a sophomore and 10 as a junior. Last night, her 5th home run of the season put her in the Lindbergh Athletics history books. When Coach Darin Scott was asked about Waldron breaking the career home run record he said, "Allie [Waldron] is the best All-Around softball player to ever wear a Lindbergh uniform. Reaching the career home run record is well deserved and a great honor."
With one regular season game remaining on the road at Notre Dame on Tuesday, the senior and her teammates will get ready to host the district championship tournament with a first round match up against the Kirkwood Pioneers on Thursday, October 17th at 4 PM. This senior class get an opportunity to win their second district title in their tenure here, falling short in the district championship last year to the Jackson Indians. They look to get back to the district title game and get another shot at winning the championship before graduating.
