The Lindbergh Flyers softball team cruised to a 9-1 victory over the Kirkwood Pioneers in their district quarterfinal matchup on Thursday, October 17th.
Allie Waldron led the offensive charge for the Flyers, reaching base in all four plate appearances, including a triple and a walk. She also scored two runs.
Marlee Steiner was dominant in the circle, pitching a complete game and allowing just one run on four hits while striking out 15 batters.
With the victory, the Flyers advance to the district semifinals on Saturday at 11 AM, where they will face the third-seeded Oakville Tigers. The Flyers and Tigers have a history of close matchups, with their previous game this season decided by a walk-off grand slam in Oakville's favor.
The other semifinal matchup will feature the top-seeded Jackson Indians against the fifth-seeded Seckman Jaguars, who upset the fourth-seeded Northwest Lions in their quarterfinal game. The winners of these two games will face off in the district championship game on Monday, October 21st at 4 PM at Lindbergh High School.
