The Lindbergh Flyers put on a dominant performance in their homecoming game against the Parkway West Longhorns, securing a 38-14 victory.
The Flyers started the game with a bang, scoring a touchdown in just three plays on their opening drive. Sam Estrada connected with Jack Politte for a 60-yard touchdown pass to give Lindbergh a first-quarter lead.
The Flyers' defense continued to pressure the Longhorns, forcing a turnover on downs and taking advantage with a 12-play, 97-yard touchdown drive capped off by Connor Lanham's 3-yard run. Jackson Bailey added a field goal, extending the Flyers' lead to 17-0 at halftime.
Parkway West scored a touchdown in the third quarter to cut the lead, but the Flyers responded with another touchdown drive, highlighted by a 72-yard pass from Noah Norman to Malik Matthews. A fumble recovery by Matthews set up another touchdown drive, with Noah Norman scoring from 1 yard out to give the Flyers a comfortable 31-7 lead.
The Longhorns added a late touchdown, but the Flyers held on for the victory. Sam Estrada finished the game with 195 passing yards and a touchdown, while Malik Matthews caught five passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. The Flyers' offense totaled 426 yards, averaging 8.4 yards per play.
Defensively, Jameson Honey and Carter Holmes led the way. Honey recorded two sacks, while Holmes finished with 12 total tackles. The Flyers' defense allowed just 14 rushing yards to the Longhorns.
The victory improves the Flyers' record to 5-1 and sets them up for a crucial matchup against the Fox Warriors in their next game on Friday, October 11th at 7 PM.
