In a defensive battle on a rainy Friday night, the Lindbergh Flyers secured a 10-8 victory over the Ritenour Huskies in their annual Pink Out game.
The Huskies struck first, scoring a touchdown in the opening drive. However, neither team was able to find much offensive rhythm for the rest of the half, and Ritenour took a 6-0 lead into halftime.
The Flyers started the second half with a field goal from Jackson Bailey, cutting the deficit to 6-3. A strong defensive stand by the Flyers led to a touchdown run by Connor Lanham, giving Lindbergh a 10-8 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
A late-game miscue by the Flyers nearly cost them the victory. After a failed punt attempt, the Huskies found themselves in the Flyers' territory with a chance to score. However, the Flyers' defense rose to the occasion, stopping the Huskies on four straight plays to seal the win.
Connor Lanham led the Flyers' offense, rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown while also contributing 13 yards receiving. The Flyers' defensive line was dominant, recording four sacks, including two from Jack Hessler.
With the victory, the Flyers improve to 4-1 on the season and remain in second place in Class 6 District 1. Their next challenge will come during homecoming week, when they face the Parkway West Longhorns, who also boast a 4-1 record.
